Anton Sprygin is the educational coordinator for the VCU-Bolashak International Scholarship Program (VCU-BISP). In this role, he supports the coordination, management, and implementation of public health, clinical, and research training for visiting Bolashak scholars at Virginia Commonwealth University. A scholar in religious studies with a strong academic background, Mr. Sprygin earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in religious studies with distinction from Lomonosov Moscow State University.

He most recently served as a junior research fellow at the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia, Russian Academy of Sciences, conducting research on religion and sociocultural dynamics in Central Asia and Kazakhstan. Previously, he was Head of the Analytical Department at Moscow State Pedagogical University, where he led research on religious life in Russia and post-Soviet countries. He has also worked as an Analyst and Visiting Lecturer, contributing to academic publications, preparing research reports, delivering lectures, and mentoring students in religious studies and psychology. Sprygin’s cross-cultural research experience and academic expertise strengthen the program’s mission to provide Bolashak scholars with a robust, interdisciplinary training environment that draws on faculty expertise from across VCU’s public health and clinical departments.
